So we can expect “more content and more conversations” as well as “more services, better services…”
I completely agree with the notion that Social Media attracts enthusiasm and passion. So what do you think the future will be?

I was reading the editorial in the new issue of the BBC Music Magazine, moaning about the loss of music shops and the increase in online methods (legal and illegal) of getting music. For the writer, the thing that was offered in shops was advice, recommendations, chance encounters with music you might not normally hear etc.
I was tempted to write a reply saying that you can get all these online, and you can. But it’s clear that the idea of social media actually leaves many people cold. So how do you ensure that a significant number of people aren’t left out by the developments, or that what is offered online replicates and improves on the prior experience?
The online forums on the Radio 3 web site, or elsewhere, aren’t particularly friendly. Some shops, however, weren’t/aren’t friendly – but I have to say when you find one that is right, you stick with it.
I now buy my music online from classicsonline.com but it’s not the same. And I’m a technophile! I do miss hearing something, or seeing something, or taking a CD to the counter and the assistant asking me if I’d heard the new X, Y or Z… That’s the true meaning of “social” in that field. Is the model of social media scalable or applicable to all areas?
Now on the other hand, downloads have been the saviour of classical and independent labels. But they depend on an already knowledgeable market… Is the online model sustainable without the social element? And can the social element be replicated online for this particular market?
That’s the big question. And it’s an important one because it affects a significant part of the economy, and the cultural fabric of the country. If a label fails, an orchestra may fail, and a local concert venue may fail, and a venue for social interaction may fail…
I’m rambling. Must eat. Anyway, I think I’m saying, in my Devil’s Advocate way, social media ain’t the answer to everything unless the people creating it understand the forum they’re dealing with…
